CALL ME… NOW
Call me… Now depicts that special moment of self-empowerment when one disconnects from deeply rooted mental traps, such as obsessions, “what if” past scenarios and “if only” future fantasies. It is a moment of shedding light onto seemingly comforting familiar yet destructive thought patterns, that are “running the show”, within the dark walls of the mind. The project reminds of the constant interplay between fantasy and reality, and the importance of staying grounded in the body and the present moment. This video also calls to honour oneself during a mutation or transition phase.
The visual narrative is divided into distinct scenes.
- The present moment is depicted by the real-life seaside scenes, and it anchors the character in the physical reality.
- A mental trap, depicted in the video by a warmly-lit dark closed space with a closed door, keeps one checked out of the real world. The mind is locked in the past or the future, defeating one’s freedom. Mental traps make one think that illusion is reality. The closed door and dark walls are barriers between the real and the fantasy, that block out new ideas, hope and light.
- The opening door signified embracing transition. It is a moment where one is willing to step back into reality and awareness. The opening door acts as a pivot: a crisp turn of the door handle and a sharp latch-click snaps the character out of the fantasy and back to the here and now.
- The shedding light symbolizes awareness, clarity, and sharp focus in the “now”. Light illuminates the dark corners of the mental trap and forces to enter a period of transition, in-between. The sudden shock of direct present-reality light cuts through the hidden destructive thought pattern, and exposes the false stories. The cool, bright light strips away heavy, sleepy, comforting barriers and forces a genuine, grounded connection to real present existence.
- As the trap loses its power under the light, the life energy frozen inside comes free, and loose fragments and pieces of freed focus, life energy and attention scatter away into the bright cool air and dissolve into the real “now”. The character’s free unstyled hair in the video signifies a living symbol of the release. It shows a wild, natural state that matches the free flying fragments of one’s energy. Free hair moves with the air, just like one’s mind moves with the light.
The title Call me… Now means reclaiming back pieces of oneself by allowing awareness and mutation to happen naturally in the present moment. This is the inner calling for the inner parts of the self that were suppressed by a mental trap. It’s about driving oneself from escapist fantasy that keeps one avoid reality. The inner calling is a frequency of light, acting as a beacon for one’s soul to tune into.
